We'll be launching into our next book, titled "Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life" by Tish Harrison Warren. Since we're all hunkering down, this is a perfect time to pick up this book and re-focus our minds on the common life we are all embracing at home.
Getting the book: While many people are resistant to it, we would actually recommend purchasing the book as a Kindle or digital format. This is because there are numerous reports of Amazon delaying orders of non-essential purchases to prioritize things like medicine, home needs, and other essential items for people. So, if you're not willing to wait, the kindle may be best for you. If you'd rather have the hard copy, please keep in mind it may take some time to get delivered.
The Next Meetings: Danny and Brian will be hosting two online discussions in the next couple of weeks to discuss first impressions of the book. Attend one, both, or none! We will just be glad to see and hear from everyone.
The first meeting will be held Friday, March 27th at 3:30 pm. Simply click here at that time to join the meeting.
The second meeting will be held Thursday, April 2nd at 7pm. Simply click here at that time to join the meeting.
Web Conferencing: You do not need an account, or an app to join the discussion. Simply click on the links above to join. As you might have noticed, we will be hosting our discussion on Zoom. Zoom is a web conferencing platform that allows people to join discussion from phones, tablets, or computers. Best of all, its free! It does need a device with a microphone to function, and a web cam (phones and tablets have 'em) are a big help too!
It is worth noting that we believe, in this time of seclusion, that learning to use this technology as means of connecting may actually be MORE important than the act of reading this book. This is because it is a VERY effective means of CONNECTING. If you find new technology like this intimidating, or simply need some assistance, send a note and we will gladly get you some help getting set up.
Discussion Questions: We also hope to post some reflection and discussion questions on this page shortly for you each to engage with as we begin.
So to recap....
1. Grab a copy of the book
2. Follow the links above to attend the discussion
3. Start reading!
We look forward to connecting with you all soon.
