Our Passover Seder is an opportunity to keep the Passover (albeit 24 hours earlier than it will be observed by Jews around the world) using the traditional Jewish Haggadah while also observing how the holiday points to Jesus. We are not "fishing for symbols" in the Passover when we keep the Seder... They are present and preach to us out of the Jewish traditions. In the New Testament Jesus is presented as the Passover lamb sacrificed for the sin of the world. The Apostle Paul saw the connection with Passover when Jews cleanse their homes of leaven and eat lamb in recognition of the Temple sacrifice. When Paul urges the Corinthians to purify themselves he appeals to Passover symbolism: "Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed." (1 Corinthians 5.7)
